Remember the Mac game, United States of Pool, where players crossed the country after completing a series of pool matches? Hot Dish 2 Cross Country Cook Off, would be a remote cousin, a United States of Food of sorts, where gamers combine traveling across the country with competing at regional cook offs. You’ll be joining chefs from all over America, and you’ll need to master a multitude of local dishes like Gumbo from Louisiana, Shrimp & Scallop Kebabs from Maine, Boston Baked Beans just to name a few. Ultimately you’re vying for a place in the final round of the Gourmet Grand Prix.

Fantastic Farm
The Fantastic Farm isn’t just your run-of-the-mill farm. You see, it’s managed by Maggie, a recent alumnus from the School of Magic, so her work style and ethic are a far cry from those on an ordinary farm. Thank goodness she can step up the pace there because an evil businessman is trying to smush the farm like a bug. Why can’t she just put a spell on him or turn him into a monkey? Anyway, in this time management/sim game, help Maggie raise animals, grow plants, and run magical machines to produce sweaters, pies, ice creams and more. Fantastic Farm features more than 150 levels, 5 games modes, 6 different crops, 3 animals and 4 machines.

Serpent of Isis
The developers of the beautiful tile game for Mac, Venice Mystery, released a second title that combines an intriguing mystery, hidden objects, challenging mini games and a little adventure gaming thrown into the mix. In Serpent of Isis, you have a primary obsession: finding a rare Egyptian artifact that has been missing for a long, long time. You’ve spent nearly your entire life dedicated to locating the Serpent of Isis. One day, you receive an anonymous letter disclosing important information: Five robbers have stolen the artifact and have just boarded the Palu Express train. You’ve got to get on board the train to recover pieces of the artifact from each of the five thieves before the train reaches its final destination in London. Search for clues in the train and during stopovers in Paris, Budapest and Vienna – that implicate each of the suspects, to help you locate the pieces.

Agatha Christie Peril at End House
“I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.” ~Agatha Christie
As the best-selling writer of books of all time and the best-selling writer of any kind, Agatha Christie has influenced not only her loyal readers but unsuspecting audiences as well. Her works have been adapted into cartoons, anime, films, stage works, television series (Poirot, Miss Marple, etc.) and games. The game takes its inspiration from the original novel of the same name, Peril at End House, A Hercule Poirot Mystery, which was written 76 years ago. In typical Agatha Christie fashion, this Mac game is also a “whodunit” using I-Spy, hidden objects game play. In order to solve this murder mystery, gamers are to play through dozens of fun puzzles. Nick Buckley is the last in a long line of Buckleys living at End House, an enormous and isolated estate overlooking the cliffs of St. Loo. Following several attempts on Nick’s life, the famous Belgian detective Hercule Poirot steps in to find out who the killer is and vows to unravel their motives before it’s too late.

Skip Bo Castaway Caper
You might be surprised today to find a card game to download, instead of a hidden objects game, sim game or a match three game. Skip Bo Castaway Caper takes you to an island but once you arrive, you’re not initially given a warm welcome, particularly by the Great Volcano. In fact, you’ve angered him and he’s spewing all over the place! In order to appease him, you’ll have to win 10 tribal challenges. For each challenge, you must play four matches of Skip-Bo against the natives. You have to beat every game to win. Just in case you have not heard of it, Skip-Bo is similar to UNO (if that helps), but since UNO is often compared to Crazy 8s, Skip-BO rather more closely resembles Spit, or Cat and Mouse. If none of those games sound familiar, don’t worry because the game is easy to pick up. In a nutshell, you must rid yourself of your stock pile of cards, put them in sequential order on the board. Skip Bo cards are wild cards. It’s best to just jump right in to play!

Mr. Jones’ Graveyard Shift
The HBO hit series, Six Feet Under, was not only a brilliant show on television, it also put the business of death on people’s radars. In this business, you will be reassured to always have customers because, well … people will always … anyway. Of course, while the Fisher family took care of the mortuary side, or the first part of death, so to speak, of the funeral biz, you will jump into this sim game with Mr. Jones, taking care of the last half of the process. Start out with just a shovel and some old grave markers and eventually build up your cemetery into a marble-clad festival of trendy crypts. Branch out and decorate green ways, and erect elaborate monuments and statues and more. Since Mr. Jones has no time to waste, he’s working the graveyard shift in an attempt to make his cemetery business profitable. If he’s successful and hits all of his goals, then he’ll be able to get back together with his to-die-for girlfriend.
