This is probably my most favorite word game for Mac. In Bookworm Deluxe, Lex the cute bookworm is starving and you need to feed him. Not only that, you’ll also need to feed him as quickly as possible. The thing is: he doesn’t eat hamburgers, pizza or hotdogs, he feeds on words and he especially loves long words. To give him what he needs, link letters together on the board to spell out words. He’ll reward you by giving you big points, but if you feed him too many short words, you’ll unfortunately feel his wrath as he sends down burning letters that could set the entire library ablaze.

This popular game for Mac, Akkadia, will not only hook word gamers but will also take them to a faraway land filled with magnificent temples, exotic spices, luxurious cities and words as long as their vocabularies will allow. Link words together as fast as possible, and try to find the bonus word in each round. Watch out for dangerous letters, that, if left unused, will end the level if they fall to the bottom of the column.

Macgamers who liked playing word games like Bookworm Deluxe, Akkadia and Flipwords will flip for Text Twist 2. Play five game modes: 1) Crossword – fill in the crossword puzzle; 2) Lighting, where you guess a word quickly; 3) Word of the Day, like Lightning mode where you must find one word with all the letters given within a specific amount of time. 4) In untimed or 5) timed mode. Earn points by creating all possible words with the letters given. Find the bonus word and you can automatically move on to the next level. Where does “Twist” come in? Press on the twist button and it rearranges the scrambled letters to give your brain some more ideas to work with.

 Aloha Tripeaks – The next installment of the Aloha game series (Remember the card matching Mahjong game, Aloha Solitaire?) is Aloha Tripeaks, where players take a balloon ride over the Hawaiian Islands and play 70 levels of solitaire card games. The game is based on the classic “Pyramid Golf” solitaire game, where gamers build on the tableau’s stock pile with cards that are one value higher or lower to the face up card, either ascending or descending. To win the level, eliminate all cards on the tableau, moving them to the stock pile. The cool difference here is when you’re stuck and there are no more moves, your handy bonuses can save you!  Sparkle – Sparkle is one my favorite and most addictive Luxor-like games where you exert your aiming skills to free the Crowberry Woods from the shadow of Darkness. Use your Orb Slinger to shoot colorful spheres into groups of three or more of the same color, which clears the chain of orbs from the board – and in doing so, reclaim every corner of the verdant forest. Pick up amazing amulets and sparkling power-ups hidden along the shaded path.

Bonnie’s Bookstore
In the spirit of Bookworm Deluxe, Bonnie’s Bookstore takes you on a word finding adventure. Bonnie finds a treasure trove of art left in her attic by her grandfather, and she hopes to write a book to match the images. As you create and find as many words as you can within 50 levels of game play, try to change all the letter tiles to green, and help an aspiring childrens’ book writer pursue and fulfill her dream to become a world class author, all the while being able to showcase her granddad’s work. Try to avoid the dreaded writer’s block by creating words longer than three letters.

 Avenue Flo - In Avenue Flo, Flo is back but the game is surprisingly NOT a time management game. This will be a relief if you hate those kinds of games. While the game is described as a sim, it’s rather, more like a set of various games and puzzles including some hidden objects, logic and a lot of adventure gaming. In the story, Quinn (of Wedding Dash fame) runs into too many problems right before the wedding of one of her clients, and it’s up to you (as Flo) to help her out. Explore three neighbourhoods of Diner Town (Avenue Flo, Bistro Bay and Yum Yum Square), meet people along the way for clues about what you’re suppose to do next, and pick up items to add to your inventory that you can use to solve puzzles. If you’re a fan of Flo games, you will probably connect with everyone because you’ll know all the characters from previous games. But if you don’t normally like these games, you might unexpectedly like it since it isn’t like all the other games. It’s also the first time, ever, where you’ll get to hear the voices of Flo and her BFF, Quinn. Download it

The fairies, of all colors of the rainbow, have been captured by evil forces and have been placed in individual jars, which is where you come in.
