Aloha Tripeaks – The next installment of the Aloha game series (Remember the card matching Mahjong game, Aloha Solitaire?) is Aloha Tripeaks, where players take a balloon ride over the Hawaiian Islands and play 70 levels of solitaire card games. The game is based on the classic “Pyramid Golf” solitaire game, where gamers build on the tableau’s stock pile with cards that are one value higher or lower to the face up card, either ascending or descending. To win the level, eliminate all cards on the tableau, moving them to the stock pile. The cool difference here is when you’re stuck and there are no more moves, your handy bonuses can save you! Sparkle – Sparkle is one my favorite and most addictive Luxor-like games where you exert your aiming skills to free the Crowberry Woods from the shadow of Darkness. Use your Orb Slinger to shoot colorful spheres into groups of three or more of the same color, which clears the chain of orbs from the board – and in doing so, reclaim every corner of the verdant forest. Pick up amazing amulets and sparkling power-ups hidden along the shaded path. Download it

Thomas and the Magical Words – Combining Scrabble with arcade gaming and a little Harry Potter thrown in, Thomas and the Magical Words will keep word gamers, kids and adults alike, entertained for hours. Tommy has been thrown in a book of spells by his uncle and it’s up to you to help him escape his imprisonment by creating a word path to exit the book. Download it

Treasure Seekers The Enchanted Canvases – Treasure Seekers The Enchanted Canvases takes you to a Romanian castle where Nelly’s brother, Tom, was last seen trying to find the Philosopher’s Stone, a relic with mystical powers. She soon realizes the only way to find him is to step inside each painting hanging on the wall and interact with the characters on these magical canvases, who will then reveal clues that will bring her closer to finding Tom. Solve adventure quests with hidden object challenges to break the castle’s spell, find Tom and discover the secrets of the Philosopher’s Stone. Download it

Bonnie’s Bookstore

In the spirit of Bookworm Deluxe, Bonnie’s Bookstore takes you on a word finding adventure. Bonnie finds a treasure trove of art left in her attic by her grandfather, and she hopes to write a book to match the images. As you create and find as many words as you can within 50 levels of game play, try to change all the letter tiles to green, and help an aspiring childrens’ book writer pursue and fulfill her dream to become a world class author, all the while being able to showcase her granddad’s work. Try to avoid the dreaded writer’s block by creating words longer than three letters.

Tasty Planet

Tasty Planet is another one of our favorite Mac games, and will remind some gamers of Katamari Damacy, which involves a mission to rebuild the universe by pushing around a sticky ball accumulating everything it rolls on. In Tasty Planet, however, the tale is more of a science experiment gone very, very wrong. Instead of rebuilding the universe, you try to destroy it by eating it. You begin as a teeny tiny, unstoppable blob that gobbles up everything in its path, starting with amoebas and germs. The more you eat the more you grow in size but you can never eat anything bigger than your head. Isn’t that what your mother used to tell you? The next edibles you’ll want to devour and digest might resemble golf balls, cars, trees, houses. What’s next, planets? Yes! The bigger you grow the larger the meal possibilities. Yum!

Peggle Nights

It’s a rare accomplishment when a game manages to require an equal amount of luck and skill at the same time. Peggle Nights, the second installment of the popular Peggle series, does just that, which is probably why the game is so infuriatingly addictive. It’s much like the game of pachinko except that you initially have the opportunity to shoot the ball with a certain amount of control, rather than shooting it up into the board randomly and crossing your fingers that it’ll land in auspicious places. With Peggle Nights you can accurately aim and hit some of the targets to a degree, but after a while you must rely on luck for the balls to land on more targets or bonus pegs. This combination of game play will surprise you.

Simplz Zoo – Similar to the captivating Fishdom game series, which combines either match three games or hidden object games with a sim, the perhaps even more addictive Simplz Zoo also takes inspiration from this formula but instead of building an aquarium here, gamers will build a zoo from scratch. The choices for your zoo masterpiece are enormous. First, play through match three puzzles swapping icons vertically, horizontally and diagonally – accumulating resources like food, building materials, decorations, money, manpower, pathways and more in order to construct a zoo that is as elaborate (or simple) as your imagination will allow. Your zoo starts out ranked as number 1000 out of 1000, so things can only get better from there as you strive to move up the ladder to become number 1. It takes playing through a lot of puzzles, planning strategically, caring for animals, saving endangered species and organizing and maintaining a zoo, and this will keep you busy for a long time, but I think you’ll love every minute of it. Boonka – Boonka is a clever, creative and rather kooky twist on sliding puzzle match Mac games, and it even has a fundamental environment message to boot. Your ultimate mission in Boonka is to rebuild a group of trees that have been chopped down by the evil Skours, portrayed as dark, menacing clouds. Unlike other match games that either swap tiles (like Bejeweled) or slide and line up tiles (like Chuzzle), gamers can move Boonkas in any direction individually but only horizontal matches can be made. Use the pixie jars to eliminate anything above them so Boonkas don’t stack up to the top. If that happens, the Skours win and you have to start over. If you successfully remove the Boonkas, the trees begin to grow back! Download it

Youda Legend The Golden Bird of Paradise – The Youda Legend continues following the huge and successful hidden objects Mac game, Curse of the Amsterdam Diamond. In this installment, you’ve taken a much needed vacation just after your action packed adventure in Amsterdam, but a visit to a fortune teller soon has you embarking on a new journey that will take you to faraway tropical islands. This leads you on an odyssey to ancient temples. Later, you will come across a long vanished tribal civilization and finally be able to reveal the unyielding mystery of the golden bird of paradise. Alice’s Teacup Madness – I think and hope Lewis Carroll would be flattered knowing that his whimsical and nonsensical literary tale was translated into a Mac game. Alice’s Tea Cup Madness follows the original story in that Alice has fallen down a rabbit hole, but diverges immediately from there. In order for Alice to exit the wacky world of wonder, she’s to work and earn her way out of there by serving tea and pastries to quirky and oftentimes picky characters. Download it

Pop-a-tronic – Pop-a-Tronic is an addictive bubble popping puzzle game for Mac. As bubbles fill the screen, pop them as fast as you can. Inhale bubbles and pick a new place to drop them. The bubbles are constantly approaching, so do your best to clear the board as fast as you can. There are four game modes to vary the game play: Puzzle, Marathon, Lock-Out or Self Destruct. The game might remind some gamers of Collapse but with more game modes, power ups, challenges and bonuses. Download it

The Tudors – The Royal House of Tudor ruled the Kingdom of England and its realms, including the Lordship and Kingdom of Ireland, from 1485 until 1603. The powerful monarchs inspired Showtime to create a historical fiction television series based on this long lineage, and so “The Tudors” was born. The tumultuous times during King Henry VIII and beyond now brings gamers a whole slew of treachery, politics and murderous plots into this hidden objects Mac game. The king requests that you be his eyes and ears and you are drawn into a world of deception and murder. As you assume the role of a royal spy, uncover conspiracies, assassination attempts and other threats against England and her King. Download it

The Great Tree – Every now and again, an unexpectedly different game is released and you savor each and every minute of playing it because it’s fun and you don’t know when the next time you’ll come across anything as unique again. Combining an unlikely mix of old school action gaming with otherworldly mysticism, you might feel that way about The Great Tree. You are a 1000 year old child on a mission to collect pollen floating through the air. You’ll then take this magical pollen to the Great Tree via a transient star, and this will save the forest fairies and keep the tree from dying. Download it

Top Chef – Much like the Top Chef TV show, in the game, you’ll be competing against a line-up of chefs completing various cooking challenges. You’ll then have your meals judged by Padma Lakshmi and Tom Colicchio. Unlike other cooking games, you’ll be creating recipes yourself, rather than following someone else’s recipes. Padma will brief you on what is required of you, then off you go to one of your many workstations. You do have to know your foods to succeed with Top Chef, which makes the game ideal for foodie gamers. Download it

My Kingdom for the Princess – In this simulation meets time-management game, a wicked tornado has hit the kingdom swirling around people, animals, trees, roads, hamlets and more. Everything is in ruins, and King Olgert was struck by lightning laying ill and teetering between life and death. His daughter, Princess Helen, must return to the castle to see her ailing dad. To make matters worse, there’s a fire-breathing dragon with a growling stomach flying above the land, ready to prey on its next human meal. Take on the role of the chivalrous, brave knight named Arthur to escort the Princess safely back to the empire, and to restore the kingdom back to its original state. Download it

Strange Cases: The Tarot Card Mystery – This hidden objects adventure takes you on an investigation with FBI Agent Claire Ellery, in what seems to be a triple kidnapping in an unassuming small town. When an anonymous source leaves behind strange tarot cards at various locations, the case becomes more complicated and our agent soon realizes there’s more to it than an ordinary kidnapping. Follow each of the tarot cards while also solving challenging puzzles and looking for hidden objects that may help shed light on the kidnapping as well as on the strange rituals about to take place. Like in the original Professor Fizzwizzle, use your problem solving skills in a series of puzzles to move the Professor from one place to another pushing around barrels, crates, magnets and other objects. Clueless – Based on the light-hearted movie with Alicia Silverstone, Clueless is a game that wants you NOT to be fashionably clueless. Are you a true fashionista? Prove it by showing the world your savoir faire. How well do you know your Prêt-à-Porter, Haute Couture and latest designer collections? Dress Cher and her friends and make sure heads turn when these fashion Goddesses strut their stuff. Make sure what they wear matches their style and gets a thumbs up from their BFs and GFs. If you don’t, everyone will think you are Clueless. Whatever! You’ll be evaluated and given grades for everything you select so choose carefully and watch the clock because you’ll be timed. You’re a collector of old books and knickknacks and your travels somehow lead you on a wild goose chase to find out the real identify of Jack the Ripper. The problem is, there are some people out there who do not want his identity revealed! Investigate one of the most notorious mysteries ever. Explore the city through 360-degree photographs of places such as Piccadilly Circus, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey … even the tailor shop where James Bond bought his shirts. Mean Girls – Roughly based on Mean Girls, the movie starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Tina Fey and Tim Meadows, which happened to be based on a non-fiction book, Queen Bees and Wannabees by Rosalind Wiseman, the game version adheres to the same story about Cady, a home-schooled teenager raised in Africa who gets transplanted to America, just in time to have the oh-so wonderful and typical American experience of being confronted by high school mean girls! In this match three game meets sim game play, go back to high school as the beloved peacemaker … or would you rather make plans for total domination? It’s time to decide as you match wits with … the Mean Girls. Download it

Gold Miner Joe – There’s gold in them thar…mines. Collect all the gold you can get your grubby little hands on, use your dynamite wisely and avoid the Kentucky brothers like the plague. This is a fun, platformer, jump and run mac game like our classic and wonderful and favorite game of Mario. Download it

Super Text Twist – I’m a sucker for practically any challenging word game, so I’m starting off the year with Super Text Twist, which happens to be just that. Don’t worry about it being a game and feeling like you’re wasting time. Think of it as a tool to sharpen your mind! You’ve got two minutes and thirty seconds to make as many words as possible with either six or seven random letters. Figure out the combination with the most letters and move to the next level. Sunset Studio: Love on the High Seas – In this hidden object game for Mac, search through star-studded Hollywood sets for hidden objects, and keep a costly blockbuster from sinking…literally. The temperamental and demanding celebrity of “Titanship,” Katherine Connick, is center stage in this game. Will Meline Deeoni be singing “My Fart Will Go On” on the soundtrack? Bad joke; sorry. Anyway, the star can’t find anything for herself, so you can step in to help out. The game also beckons you to come to the rescue of the floundering production, which seems to be sinking by the minute. Scour through a variety of studio locations and discover a romance that can only be found on an imaginary ship that’s going under. Don’t let it, though! Download it

Gemini Lost – In this real-time strategy sim for Mac, the positions and alignments of the stars and planets don’t really matter as much as your own positions and alignments with the game’s characters and missions. Their needs and abilities and the ultimate goal to help out a small group of people lost on an unknown planet is your primary focus. Get your small group to learn skills, build bridges and become self-sufficient. Match up compatible couples and get them to multiply! When they have kids, wait for them to grow up before you put them to work. Explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and build a new civilization. Boldly go where no man has gone before. Oops, sorry about that geeky reference. Back to the game. In Gemini Lost, beware of diseases and other dangers that can impede your progress, and always remember that you have to find all of the Zodiac signs to move forward. The game continues even when your Mac is turned off, so something new and exciting will always be waiting for you when you return to the game. Download it

Deluxe Poc Mon – As the name suggests, this game is sort of like Pacman, the arcade game from the 80s, but here’s the big difference: it’s much more fun. Packed with all kinds of extras like magical bonuses, duels, guns, bombs, ghosts, lasers and more, it’s everything you wanted in the original classic game. Well, now you have ‘em. Play alone or with teams of up to three players. 100 levels, extra goodies to discover, adding your own music in the game and a kids’ mode for little ones or for gamers whose Poc Mon chops aren’t up to par. Download it

Westward 3 Gold Rush – Wrangle up your courage, don your chaps and choose a character from a choice of three: 1) Polly Hatchet, an experienced rancher; 2) General Amos Cutter, a calm and clever strategist; or, 3) Shawnee Longfeather, an Iroquois medicine woman. Each personality carries his/her own specific strengths and weakness, so keep this in mind when playing this western sim/strategy game. The town is flattened after a destructive tornado so rebuild the settlement from the ground up. Gold is abundant and all over for the taking, but bandits abound so watch your back and make certain the town thrives. Yeeeehaw! Download it

Mystic Mine – Following in the footsteps of the above Western-themed game, Mystic Mine takes you under the ground. Doesn’t that sound fun? Luckily, you won’t have to experience any claustrophobia down there in the mine playing this puzzle game for Mac. Collect the required number of coins or gems and finish your missions in the limited time imposed on you. Guide your mining car (or is it called a mining cart?), making sure you switch the tracks with the spacebar to go in the direction of the treasure. Plan fast and well because you really aren’t given much time per level. This fun little puzzler for your Mac features over 200 levels and lots of bonuses. (torch, key, balloon, oiler, dynamite!) Play with up to six people on one keyboard. Download it

The Conjurer – Imagine the most powerful and celebrity magician inviting the top 10 illusionists to his dark, spooky castle. Who’d fall for THAT trap? All of them, it seems. They all accept. Of course, this invitation comes with some strings. Each magician must conjure up his finest routine, the best he has ever delivered. Impressing is key and whoever performs the number one illusion or magic trick, will gain access to the greatest magician’s highly coveted secrets. The plot sounds simple but nothing is as it seems in the world of magic. It turns out that one of the competitors is out to kill the host magician. WHO is it? Obviously, someone who doesn’t want or need his secrets… Play through puzzles and magic tricks throughout this hidden objects game while discovering who the guilty party is…before it’s too late! Kivi’s Underworld – This RPG involves Kivi, a young Lumen warrior, leading a disastrous mining expedition, and unfolding uncharted territories to uncover a mythical (or so he thought) race of dark elves. Kivi is the lone survivor who makes it back to his home only to find that no one will believe him about the elves. He is in a fight of his life and must do so alone. He needs to recruit Lumens and fight off the elves with limited lives and powers. Download it
